CHAPEL HILL - Now that Orange County won't let residents tie up their dogs for more than three hours a day, Chapel Hill Town Council member Bill Strom wants to ban tethering completely within the town limits."I don't think it's a way to care for a domestic animal, a companion animal," Strom said Monday night.
Orange County enacted its limitations last week, but they do not apply to Chapel Hill and Carrboro, which have their own rules. Currently, Chapel Hill allows tethers no shorter than 10 feet, with a swivel or run-line to prevent choking.
Strom suggested following Durham County's lead and banning tethers altogether.
"I think we should align with Orange County quickly, or we should surpass it," Strom said.
